Most of us are used to the idea that only artists, writers, and poets have the ability to appreciate the beauty of cities, as they are sensitive with their surrounding environment. This is not entirely true. A city is composed with the people who
live in it, the culture they create, and hence the memories they share among each other. As residents, we shouldn’t stay as mere audience but collectors of our city experience.

The parliaments, business districts, streets and highways are all parts of the city’s landscape that shapes our lives and vision of our future. City dwellers create each of their own story by interacting with each other through working, social-
izing, and having fun together.

The Kaohsiung Design Festival is a feast about beauty, creativity, and the joy of life. Through the exhibitions, competitions, dialogues, and performance, we hope to encourage the participants to give the city a new definition.
